Aims of the conference
• Disseminate case studies on European school community collaboration on SD
• Reflect on processes of learning, values, models and tools for successful school
community collaboration on SD
• Initiate a forum to involve the diversity of stakeholders participating in school
community collaboration on SD such as local administrations, municipalities, NGO,

This is the fourth ICMEE organized by the School of Educational Studies. The first ICMEE was held in 2001 followed by the second ICMEE in 2003 and the third in 2006. After the successes of organizing these conferences we are proud to announce the ICMEE IV to be held on 10-12 October 2011. The School of Educational Studies, USM, had organised the International Conference on Measurement and Evaluation in Education (ICMEE) in 2001, 2003 and 2006. ICMEE is the only Malaysian international conference which focuses on measurement and evaluation issues and development in education. To date, this conference has lured participants from the Asian Pacific region, United Kingdom, United States of America, and Africa to present their research and sharing their findings as well as new ideas.
The aim of this conference is to initiate a suitable avenue for academicians and practitioners to share their expertise and knowledge on issues, policies, challenges and new development in measurement and evaluation in education.
The specific objectives of this conference are as follow:
i. To provide an international platform for educators and researchers as well as postgraduate students in presenting their research findings.
ii. To provide opportunities for participants in discussing and exchanging ideas on various aspects of educational measurement and evaluation issues and challenges.
iii. To establish understanding and networking amongst participants.
iv. To propose the setting up of a Regional/National Centre for Measurement and Evaluation, and to publish a periodical scholarly journal on measurement and evaluation -www.icmee.com -

The Symposium will be a significant event with regard to further developing ideas, insights and visions, concerning issues such as - What is Global Education? What are key competencies of global citizens in general education? How can priorities of global education be nationally identified? Invited keynote speakers will include: Professor Vanessa Andreotti, Chair of Global Education at University of Oulu, Finland; Dr. Helmuth Hartmeyer, Director at the Austrian Development Agency and Chair of GENE; Professor Annette Scheunpflug, University of Erlangen-Nuremburg, Germany; and Professor Rauni Räsänen, University of Oulu, Finland, and evaluator of the Finnish National Strategy on Global Education.

Overall Aims:
- Strengthen the exploration and observational competencies of young field scientists
- Provide a context for field observations; national biodiversity databases & recording
- Enhance the ability of scientists to communicate with a variety of groups
- Develop resources and materials to promote exploration and observation
Each evening participants will take it in turn to give a short presentation of their work. Main purpose
- To offer GRESD graduate students and invited international graduate students the opportunity to present research papers
- To offer international key-note presentations to participating graduate students and to other interested parties (open lectures).
Participants
International key-note speakers, GRESD graduate students and supervisors, GRESD scientific committee and their doctoral students, GRESD board, Chinese research collaborators, graduate students from all over the world invited through Sida-projects, European school initiatives network (ENSI), The Swedish research network in education and sustainable development and many more. The key-notes in afternoons are open events for interested public and will be advertised nation-wide.
